Hima Parish Profile

Hima Parish is a Roman Catholic parish located in the Diocese of Kasese, western Uganda. The parish was officially established on 27th August 1989 after being carved out of Kasese Parish. From its inception, Hima Parish has been placed under the patronage of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, who remains the spiritual guide and protector of the parish community.

The first parish priest of Hima Parish was Fr. Henry Vallette, who played a key role in laying the foundation of pastoral life, evangelization, and community organization within the parish.

Pastoral Activities and Ministries

Hima Parish is actively engaged in pastoral work and evangelization across its wide jurisdiction. The parish is composed of 26 outstations, through which various pastoral and social ministries are carried out to serve the faithful.

Among these outstations are two prisons:

Ibuga Prison

Mubuku Prison

Through these, the parish conducts a strong Prison Ministry, offering spiritual guidance, counseling, and sacramental services to inmates.

Other key pastoral activities include:

Small Christian Communities (SCCs): Regular visitations and pastoral support to strengthen faith at the grassroots level.

Adoration Day and Healing Mass: Held on every last Thursday of the month, featuring Eucharistic Adoration and prayers for healing.

Perpetual Adoration Chapel: Hima Parish has a 24/7 Perpetual Adoration Chapel, operating continuously from January to January, allowing the faithful to spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at any hour.

Children and Youth Ministry: Focused on faith formation, moral guidance, and active participation of young people in church life.

Family Apostolate: Supporting Christian families through teaching, counseling, and faith-based programs.

Ministry to the Sick and Elderly: Conducted every Thursday, ensuring regular visitation, prayer, and administration of sacraments to the sick and the elderly.

If you would like this rewritten for a souvenir booklet, parish report, website, or church anniversary publication, I can adapt it to that format as well.
