Ugandan Catholic Bishops Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran in Rome
Kampala, Uganda – March 17, 2026

Ugandan Catholic bishops on their Ad Limina Apostolorum visit to Rome today celebrated Holy Mass at the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Pope’s cathedral and one of the most important basilicas in the Catholic Church.

The solemn Eucharistic celebration brought together members of the Ugandan episcopate in a spirit of prayer, reflection, and communion with the Universal Church. The Ad Limina visit is a long-standing tradition in which bishops meet the Holy Father and present reports on the pastoral life and mission of their dioceses.

The visit highlights the deep spiritual and institutional bond between the Church in Uganda and the Holy See, as the bishops take time for dialogue, renewal, and the reaffirmation of their pastoral duties.

During their stay in Rome, the Ugandan bishops are also expected to hold a series of meetings with Vatican officials as well as the Holy Father.
